Below is a video that I made about my trip to Tanzania/Kenya:

24 things I have learned from Tanzania/Kenya

1. I learned to appreciate the fact that I can go into a building or house, flip a switch and there are lights.
2. I learned that we are blessed to be able to turn a knob and get water let alone clean and hot water.
3. I learned that children don’t need all the expensive toys and gadgets a tire, stick or empty water bottle is just as fun.
4. I learned that when you have family in friends in town, driving 45 min. to an hour on a moped that goes no more than 20 miles per hour, in the pouring rain, without any rain gear, just to say a 5 minute goodbye (even though you don’t speak the same language) and to get a hug, is something you do just to show how much that family or friend means to you.
5. I learned that there are great people in the world doing great things
6. I learned you can survive without a computer, tv, and radio and be just fine.
7. I learned that God is everywhere and in everybody in some way or another.
8. I learned to be grateful when it rains, because half way around the world they have buckets all over their yard waiting for it to rain just so they can have water to cook with, drink, clean their cloths, clean themselves, water their plants, or use for the bathroom
9. I learned not to take for granted the fact that I can pop an Advil when I have cramps. There are girls that miss a week of school because they don’t have feminine products or pain medicine.
10. I learned that toilet paper is a luxury.
11. I learned to be proud of the work I do no matter how small it seems to me.
12. I learned that Americans take a lot for granted.
13. I learned that even if you don’t speak the same language, a laugh, a hug, a hand hold, or even just a simple smile can change your life forever.
14. I learned that even when you don’t have much to offer, when you have visitors you shower them with all of your best things.
15. I learned that 5 teens can sleep on one twin size bed.
16. I learned that 80 boys can live in one very small room together and still get along.
17. I learned to be grateful of my car, there are people who walk miles just to get to a market.
18. I learned that no matter how little you have, if you have your faith that’s all you need.
19. I learned to appreciate every piece of food I eat. There are kids who go days without food and don’t complain.
20. I learned to never waste things. Left over food can be fed to the chickens who lay eggs for you and that you can later eat, clothes can be worn for many generations, dirty water can be used to water plants and clean toilets, and old tires can be made into shoes.
21. I learned that it’s not how much you have but how much you enjoy and live your life to the fullest.
22. I learned that life can be great even if you don’t have a lot of money, food, clothing, or extras.
23. I learned to trust in God, take a leap of faith, and know when God is calling you to do something, you should probably do it.
24. But most of all I have learned to dream big, fight for what you want, never give up, and to appreciate the little things in life.
